Well….. I wish I was writing a positive post, after ceci’s follow up surgical appointment in Peoria today- but it’s not the case this time.
Things did not go as planned and it’s causing Ceci to have additional testing on her bladder and kidneys next week. Pediatric surgery has scheduled ceci for a cystogram this Thursday back at Children’s Hospital of Illinois and she may also need additional testing.
I wish I had more to share, but at this point all I can say is that we had to choose between taking Ceci back to the operating room tonight or considering getting a second opinion and weighing the fact that she may need a much bigger surgery to prevent these frequent infections and operating room visits on her bladder in the near future.
It was a very hard decision but we decided to hold off on a additional procedure today and see how her body does with healing on its own. We may lose what we have been fighting so hard to save, but Ceci and I are to the point that we need to leave this in God’s hands and allow him to lead us in the direction we need to go.
We’ll be reevaluating everything in the next week including the possibility of ceci needing 2 major surgeries in the spring on her spine and her bladder.
It has really been a rough and exhausting day for Ceci and our family.
We could use prayers at this time for healing, hope and patience as we process what may be ahead for our little fighter.
Once we have results next week, I’ll elaborate much more on what is going on.
